Eye Exams

Eye exams are recommended by the American Optometric Association yearly or biyearly starting at 6 months old depending on your risk factors. Annual eye exams are especially important in school aged children and adults 60 years and older.

Most ocular and vision problems are correctable or preventable if patients see their eye doctors regularly. We see children of all ages including infants. We participate in the infantSEE program, which offers a no cost eye exam to children between 6 and 12 months.

A  comprehensive eye exam includes a refraction to determine your glasses prescription, binocular testing to make sure your eyes are working properly together and a dilated retinal exam to rule out any ocular pathology (such as cataracts, glaucoma, or macular degeneration).  A retinal exam also lets us evaluate the health of the eye for signs of stroke, hypertension, diabetes or heart disease).

Our office also has the state of the art retinal imaging technology called Optomap. Taking the Optos picture is free of the side effects of dilation drops and is quick and comfortable. It allows us to review your retina health with you.

Contact Lenses

Contact lens technology has improved to allow patients with all types of glasses prescriptions to have the option of wearing contact lenses. It is important that any contact lens placed on your eye is evaluated to insure a proper fit and to reduce the risk of contact lens related eye injuries and infections. We have the ability to fit you in all different types of contact lenses:

  • soft

  • toric (astigmatism)

  • multifocal

  • hard (RGP)

Ortho-keratology

Ortho-keratology is a specialty contact lens that is worn while sleeping to correct vision. Patients can then go without glasses or contacts throughout the day. It also helps prevent eyeglass prescriptions from getting stronger in children.

Consultations are free and pricing information is available upon request.

Pediatric Eye Exams

Children should have their first eye exam at 6 months of age or sooner if an eye turn is noticed. It is important for all school age children to have their vision and eye health checked to rule out vision problems that can contribute to learning disabilities. 60% of learning difficulties are associated with vision problems.
